ABOUT ME

As a teacher my one true aim has always been to bring out those unique hidden gems within every child. Beginning this journey way way back in 1995 as a classroom teacher in a small rural school in South Taranaki ,culminating in the discovering my one true passion-tutoring. Discovering the way to not only bring out a students hidden gems but to make them shine.

 

Starting in 2017, I had the privilege to work at a private school, ( https://www.addi.co.nz ) "which began out of a passion for helping, nurturing and enriching children academically socially and behavioural." While there I was able to work in an environment of inclusion, where every child whether they were neurotypical or faced learning with dyslexia, dysgraphia, autism, ODS ,OCD or a number of other learning hurdles succeeded. Through individualised assessment based learning, making learning fun and developing an inner sense of belief I have had the honour of being part of their journey to becoming lifelong learners. Students, who have struggled and lost motivation, have gone on to fulfill their dreams.

 

Now it is time to let dreams fly in Whangarei with the beginning of a new literacy tutoring service. Hidden Gems is the fruition of my dream to work with children in a safe, accepting, targeted and fun environment. Offering individualised literacy programs for primary and intermediate aged children, which lead up to high school English and NCEA Levels 1 to 3.
